New Food Service Director for 22-23 School Year

Hello All,

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and share both the journey of my past and map out our future.
My name is Blaine Hoppel and I will be the new Food Service Director beginning the 2022-2023 school year. I have an amazing wife of six years and I am a father to three lovely children that will be future Lions at General Brown CSD. My favorite past times are spending time with friends/family and golfing during the summer. GO SYRACUSE anything!!!!

My prior experience is rooted in culinary and food service management. My professional journey began as a Sous-Chef in the Rochester market opening a small group of restaurants. I gained a vast amount of knowledge but was looking for something more consistent in nature but still food related. I transitioned in to food service management with corporate groups and have done so the last 9 years (Most recently as Managing Partner for LongHorn Steakhouse). During this time, I became fluent in managing daily operations, food and menu preparation, budgeting, staff training and development, and purchasing / inventory management.

I hope to bring my skills and prior experience to provide an excellent foodservice program that is both appetizing and nutritious within National School Lunch/Breakfast Programs Guidelines. I will have both the support off the SLL Boces Food Group and current Food Service Director (Pete Bertrand) to make things as seamless as possible. While these are great resources and I’m confident in our plan, my number one resource is all of you. Please reach out with any suggestions, comments, or concerns. P: 315-779-2300 Opt. 7 Opt. 1.
